Daruvar, a small town (popluation 13.000)
under the western slopes of Papuk. During
the Romans a widely-known patricial thermal
health resort and today is the tourist
centre of its microregion. Daruvar is also
known as a centre of checz minority in
Croatia. Daruvar has Czech elementary
school, Czech magazine (Jednota), and among
other things,
Czech Radioamateur club.
Most of the Daruvars' radioamateurs are in
Radio Club "Jan Hus". Radio Club "Jan Hus"
has been founded in 1971, as a elementary
school radioamateur section. Founders were
maths teacher Vladimir Varat (9A2LP) and
Vladimir Koudela (9A2YF), then student at
ETF Zagreb. At organized courses Vladimir
Varat manages to transfer his knowledge to
young generations and they are know the core
of "Jan Hus". By its emancipation from
elementary school in 1978. radio club is
named "Radio klub Češka osnovna škola". From
1981. club has its present name Radio klub
"Jan Hus" Daruvar.
The first activity of the club, with only
few operators, was based
on home-made KV station with power of only
30 watts and dipol antenna. Nowdays Radio
club has been worldwide recognized and has
countless plaquettes, diplomas and other
recognitions. The club was the host and
organisator of all Croatiamn QRQ
competitions (events).
During the Croatian war (Domovinski rat),
operators and equipment were at disposal to
Croatian police and military and they gave
the significant contribution in defending
this region.
After the war, number of members continued
to grow, so the clubs' location became too
small for all the members. Also, due to
unfavourable geographic location and
frequent interference problems, were reason
enough to find another location outside the
town. At the begining of 2000. club has
acquired devastated house in Batinjani and
with help of donors, our own resources, and
voluntary contributions, we have built a
respectable place to work and function in.
For pocketradio purposes, club owns a local
knot 9A0XDA and BBS 9A0YDA located at Petrov
vrh. Club is, also a co-owneer of local
repeater in Daruvars' High school.
Radi club "Jan Hus" is a member of Croatina
Amateur Radio Association and has excelent
cooperation with radiclubs from all over
Croatia (Daruvar, Sisak, Belišće,
Garešnica...). Also, club is
a member of Česka beseda Daruvar, and Czech
association in Croatia. Club has official
contacts with radio club "Holice" (OK1KHL)
from Czech Republic.
Financing problems were solved with finacial
help from Towns' and Countys' budgets,
donations, and membership fees...
Currently Radio club "Jan Hus" has
aproximately a hundred members in Croatia
and also in Germany and Checz Republic. |
